10 Stupidest WWE Superstar Arrests

1. Hacksaw Jim Duggan & The Iron Sheik

Iron Sheik Jim Duggan In the wrestling climate of 1987, the art of kayfabe was still alive. Backstage news wasn't readily available, there were no shoot interviews, no internet to consult, and to many, especially the younger audience of the WWE, wrestling was still very real. So when two onscreen enemies who each represented all that the other man despised were busted together in the same vehicle, the landscape of wrestling changed, if ever so slightly. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, the very picture of an American patriot, and the hated Iranian villain The Iron Sheik, were arrested by New Jersey police when a traffic stop found them under the influence of marijuana, alcohol and cocaine. The story cracked the mainstream press, making some newspaper and TV reports, and parents had to explain to their youngsters why their beloved Duggan would travel with the dastardly foreigner when they so clearly loathed each other. The incident obviously led to the end of their angle together, as well as the release of Sheik and a temporary departure for Hacksaw, who had been in the midst of a heavy push. Once again, neither man's career would ever reach the same heights, and Duggan has been quite candid about the effect the arrest had on his position within the industry. For all the arrests on this list, this one had the ripple effect with the longest reach. So there you have it. Any arrests you find even more stupid that we left out? Name them in the comments section.
