WWE: 10 Superstar Gimmicks That Are Total Rip Offs

2. JBL

Ted Jbl

Original Gimmick: Ted DiBiase The rich, arrogant douchebag is a gimmick that the WWE are extremely fond of and has had reasonable success on a frequent basis. Though the first man to really do the role justice was €˜The Million Dollar Man€™ Ted DiBiase; DiBiase cut some of the greatest promos in wrestling history and really sold the character well. Over time, The Million Dollar Man purchased both a suit and a wrestling belt with gold dollar signs pasted all over it, which on hindsight made him look more like a Batman villain than a wrestler. His gimmick consisted of him using his money to humiliate others, including an unknown teenage Rob Van Dam, who kissed Di Biase€™s foot for $100. He probably owed it to his drug dealer. JBL is completely open about incorporating Ted Dibiase€™s gimmick into his own character, in fact earlier this year Layfield tweeted a picture of himself besides Ted DiBiase and Alberto Del Rio, with a description that read €˜three generations of one stolen gimmick€™. Away from wrestling JBL was having great success in the stock market, which the company adopted into his onscreen character. His gimmick included him employing a stable of wrestlers to protect him. Recently Alberto Del Rio also had success with the gimmick, and his entrance included him arriving in a different luxury car each week, as well as having a personal ring announcer introduce his arrival. Again the gimmick enabled Del Rio to triumph in the WWE; he has held both the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Title, each on two separate occasions.
