WWE: 10 Superstar Gimmicks That Are Total Rip Offs

5. Carlito

Razor Carlito

Original Gimmick: Razor Ramon Before either Razor Ramon or Carlito made their debut in the WWE, they were both shooting promos to showcase their characters; and at times they were almost identical. They would slowly walk down a €˜Caribbean€™ street, explaining how they were the essence of cool, as traditional island music played in the background. In one particular instance they even both spat fruit into the face of a man working on a street stall, to emphasise a lack of respect. They were so similar, that you could probably find more differences in the lead character of Rocky I and Rocky II. €˜Spitting in the face of people that don€™t want to be cool€™ would of course become Carlito€™s leading gimmick; with him often spitting his apple on popular wrestlers such as Maria and even John Cena. The gimmick was a reasonable success for a brief period of time and the crowd seemed to genuinely dislike his bad attitude. Unfortunately, Carlito€™s character didn't have many dimensions to it and would gradually lead to the wrestler€™s downward spiral with the company. Scott Hall on the other hand, was able to find longevity and prospered with the Razor Ramon character. He had some of the greatest feuds the WWE has ever seen under the gimmick; including some of the company€™s most historic matches, such as his two ladder matches against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania X and SummerSlam 95.
