He was an accountant that made people pay for not doing their taxes properly. Was it a serious gimmick? Not really. It was a bit over the top and silly, but in the early 1990s WWF that's what a lot of gimmicks were. Like a lot of these "smart guy" gimmicks, he was a heel for the majority of his run of IRS. A face run wouldn't work. If he turned face and made people do their taxes, it just wouldn't be as appealing. Looking back the whole gimmick was pretty silly. This idea that a guy was so angry about people not paying taxes makes little sense. It's just his job. It's not like he would be fired if he didn't beat people up. They'd just go to jail and deal with the consequences. I give him credit, though. He made the gimmick work. It was silly and fun. He's also the father of Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas. Wyatt looks like he has all the tools to be a main eventer for the next decade. Can Dallas get to that level? Maybe. Whether they do or not, IRS should definitely be proud of his wrestling sons.
