WWE: 10 Superstars Who Could Never Let Wrestling Go

9. Sabu

In some ways, this is a strange choice given some of the others on the list. He's only 49. I say only, because that makes him 4 months older than the Undertaker. But looking at Sabu, you'd think he was older again. Sabu was an innovator in the 1990's, no doubt about it. I was a fan at the time, and was hoping to see him given a run in one of the bigger companies (no offence intended to ECW), as he could earn some real money. And it sort of happened but didn't at the same time - he never really received a top level push. Sabu's future physical problems were evident before they happened. Wrestling with the style that he did, and never holding back, was always going to lead to injuries. He has had some major issues in the last few years, some due to the hurly burly of wrestling, some not, but didn't have the money to pay his expensive bills. At one point he was talking of hanging up his boots but still continues to wrestle around the world doing the same style of match that he has become associated with. I wish he could hang up his boots once and for all - but he can't. Like Ric Flair, he needs the money - albeit for different reasons.

I am a teacher, but also write about all things wrestling. I have been writing/interviewing wrestling personalities for over 7 years for both the Wrestling Observer site, as well as The History Of WWE site.
