WWE: 10 Superstars Of The 2000s That Everyone Forgot About

7. Chris Masters

Chris Masters Chris Masters could have been the WWE Champion. Hard to believe, considering that he ended up doing nothing substantial during both of his WWE tenures. Debuting in February 2005, Masters was one of the stand-out names on the WWE roster up until 2006. With his Master Lock challenge, he competed against stars such as Shawn Michaels and looked like a behemoth of strength. He competed several times for the WWE Championship, and you wouldn't have been wrong to assume that someday he would be wearing the strap. Unfortunately, his perfect body proved to be unattainable without outside methods - rehab came calling after an addiction was revealed. Masters never really gained back the momentum he had after his stint in rehab and was released in November 2007. He returned again in 2009, but found himself pushed down to being nothing more than a comedic character who could make his pecs dance. A sad story when you consider what could have been. He was released once again from the WWE in August 2011. Most recently, Masters has been featured on WWE.com following an incident where he saved his mother from an attack of arson in her home. He's been travelling around the independent circuit and has taken part in dark matches for TNA. Out of everyone on this list, I believe "The Masterpiece" would be one of the most likely to someday have a return to the WWE. Only time can tell.
