3. Daniel Bryan
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf-kiUcAdVI That's right, before people were clamoring for it to be the main event of Wrestlemania XXX, John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan happened on the little-watched WWE show Velocity way back in 2003. John Cena was doing his white rapper gimmick that would eventually turn him into an internet darling (imagine that) while the "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson was looking for a contract with the only wrestling company left in North America. As a member of Memphis Championship Wrestling, Danielson had a developmental deal with WWE. He won the MCW light heavyweight title and tag team titles before WWE ended their relationship with MCW in 2001. McMahon's promotion did, however, bring Danielson back for a series of jobs against workers far less talented than the American Dragon. Danielson jobbed for Jamie Noble, John Cena, and whoever else WWE wanted to get put over before heading to Ring of Honor to escape losing every match. Danielson's story has been told numerous times since then: He became one of the most talented workers on the independent scene and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler by the Wrestling Observer newsletter from 2006-2010. Finally, Danielson got his shot with WWE on their NXT program and had his named changed to Daniel Bryan. While his current push is the subject of much debate, Daniel Bryan still has the opportunity to become the biggest star in the business today.
