WWE: 10 Things I Learned Training To Be A Pro Wrestler With Lance Storm

5. Staying Clean

Lance Storm is nearly as famous for his anti-drug stance as he is for his technical prowess, and it's an attitude he shares with €“ but doesn't push on €“ his students. Steroids, of course, are the largest part of the drugs-in-wrestling discussion, but painkillers are a major problem in the sport as well. Still, Lance is calm about the issue. He sets aside a day of class to talk about how prevalent drugs are in the sport, how he's avoided them, and sadly, how many of his friends have died due to drug-related causes. Again, Lance is far too smart to give a concerned father's "don't do drugs, or else!" speech, but his experience paints a clear picture. On an even more somber note, my stay at the Storm Wrestling Academy coincided with the Chris Benoit tragedy, so this issue was discussed in even greater detail than usual. Though hindsight has since suggested that Benoit's actions were more the result of brain trauma than drugs, the deeper issue of choice and consequence remains.
