WWE: 10 Triple H Feuds That Totally Sucked

3. Eugene In 2004

Triple H is one of the biggest stars in the history of wrestling and he was arguably the top heel in WWE throughout the 2000s. Why did he have a SummerSlam match against a joke character like Eugene in 2004? Looking back on it the whole thing just seemed kind of weird. It was about how Eugene was trying to impress Hunter, but then he would do things like accidentally cost him major matches. The story with Eugene was that he was a dumb guy that had this unique ability to pull off some awesome wrestling moves. Nick Dinsmore was great at portraying this character, but when WWE started to book him in major feuds with somebody like Triple H it really didn't help the product. The feud just seemed so out of place. There was a point in building up the match where Hunter had to talk to Eugene while they were on a bouncy castle. Once again it was just another example of the character being too over the top and too silly that it got embarrassing to watch.
Their match at SummerSlam 2004 actually got about 15 minutes, which is what you'd expect for a more competitive matchup. This one was more about Hunter beating this guy clean and it could have been shorter too. After that Eugene went back down, became more of a comedy guy and of course Hunter got back into the World Title picture.
