WWE: 10 Worst WrestleMania Matches In History

4. Hulk Hogan vs. Yokozuna - WrestleMania IX

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qk1nLeZoN4c Time to revisit WrestleMania IX for one of the most shameless displays of politics in the history of the industry. After taking a long absence in 1992, Hogan returned for WrestleMania season to aid friend Brutus Beefcake in his feud with Money Inc. Yokozuna meanwhile, won the 1993 Royal Rumble to become the first winner to get a shot at the WWF Championship - then held by Bret Hart. Their paths never crossed in the build yet somehow, inexpicably, Hogan would wind up leaving WrestleMania as champion in the worst conclusion the event has ever had. Even though Beefcake & Hogan were disqualified in their tag team titles match, it ended with a happy ending and celebration as Money Inc. got their comeuppance. His re-emergence later on was unnecessary. For the evening's main event, Yokozuna cheated Bret out of the title to become the first heel to the leave Mania as champion. Or so we thought. Hogan came out to protest this injustice, and Yokozuna's manager Mr. Fuji challenged Hogan to a match on the spot (something heels just never do). Bret gave him the go ahead and the match was on! ..For a whole 22 seconds as Hogan embarrassed Yokozuna, Mr. Fuji and the entire paying public. It would be easier to stomach if Hogan dropped the belt to Bret at SummerSlam as intended, but due to Hart's size he refused to - losing instead uncleanly to Yokozuna, the very man he randomly beat for the title in half a minute. With so much backstage pull that it hurt the product, it's little wonder that was Hogan's last WWE PPV for 9 years. This match insulted Bret Hart, it hurt Yokozuna and it has forever tainted people's views on Hulk Hogan.
