WWE: 10 WrestleMania 30 Main Events That Would Have Been Better Than Orton vs Batista

9. Batista vs. CM Punk

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Szp9CsejZhc Since returning in January Batista has remained close to his friend and former Evolution leader Triple H despite initially being a face. A heel turn to align with The Authority (especially given the crowds reactions to him) would place him perfectly to represent them as WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania in the place of Randy Orton, who The Authority have frequently displayed a lack of belief in. And why would they need such confidence in their champion? Because the man they made enter as number one in the Royal Rumble went on to win it to main event his first ever WrestleMania: CM Punk. Punk lasting from number one and eliminating the returning star Batista last would set up the breaking point for Batista to turn heel and join The Authority, winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from Randy Orton at Elimination Chamber to become their new 'Face of the WWE'. The story could even reference Punk and Batista's real life friendship, when combined with Batista's friendship with Triple H it allows space to craft a 'reality based' storyline that Punk is so fond of. Punk could even make a point that despite him defending the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, this would be the first time he had been in the true show-closing main event. The two also have history inside the ring, as Batista aided CM Punk's first World Heavyweight Championship victory when his Batista Bomb to champion Edge gave Punk the opening to cash in his first Money in the Bank contract and take the gold. Punk's first pay-per-view title defence was against The Animal, retaining by a double disqualification after none other than current Director of Operations Kane attacked both men.
