However multiple paths could be taken to get to the match-up itself. Batista could have still won the Royal Rumble and Bryan capture the championship in the Elimination Chamber match (as almost happened) or the fans in attendance could have got the Royal Rumble ending they wanted with Bryan being the surprise entrant number 30 and taking the Rumble match from the grasp of Batista who himself would win the title at Elimination Chamber. Also like the Punk-Batista entry, these two have history that could play to a heel Batista's ego. Back when he was an NXT Rookie, Bryan earned a Raw match with Batista and despite a strong display that almost got a submission win he lost to the main event star. Considering Batista's recent promos aimed at Bryan bringing up this match would serve perfectly to the themes of Batista's rantings about Bryan not being on his level. Right now Batista would be the perfect foil for the Daniel Bryan "making" moment that the IWC crave so badly, as he quite literally represents the way WWE seem to constantly overlook his popularity in favour of part-time former stars. Out of the two scenarios the one that makes the most logical sense for a WrestleMania pay-off moment is Bryan winning the Rumble to win the title at Mania, but if the Batista Rumble win remained then he would have maximum heat from fans heading into the event so either path provides strengths.
