6. To Be The Man, Ric Flair

Given Ric Flair's legendary career (and legendary partying) this was always going to be an entertaining read. There's crazy recollections of sneaking around to sleep with older women as a teen, drunken parties with Terry Funk that would end with the Funker running around naked with a knife in his mouth... the kind of stuff that will shock, yet not fully surprise you about Flair. The cool thing about this book was that it also featured accounts from Flair's peers about his life. It makes for a more rounded image of the man. You get an idea of how over Flair was at his peak and the respect he commands within the industry. The book doesn't hold much back in terms of dirt either Flair recounts confronting Eric Bischoff backstage in WWE for a fight, and has less than kind words regarding Bret Hart and Mick Foley. More worrying is Flair's account of his own problems. "Through my many years of partying, I also developed something called alcoholic cardiomyopathy, a weakening of the heart muscles," Flair states. When you consider all the reckless accounts from this decade-old book and the fact that Flair is still partying that hard today (see the WWE 2K14 launch debacle) it really is a miracle slick Ric is still going so strong.
