WWE: 11 Stars Who Should Never Have Changed Entrance Themes
10. Rey Mysterio
When Rey Mysterio first joined the WWE, he had a high energy theme song that helped propel him into stardom, and into the sky. As the lyrics began with "Whose that jumping out the sky? R-e-y Mysterio, here we go!" he was launched into the air from a specialized door beneath the stage. It was a cool visual, and a catchy beat that fit his character perfectly, and Rey quickly rose through the mid-card in the company, and became one of the most popular babyfaces in wrestling. At that stage everything was going just fine, and there was no need to mess with his theme at all. But later on, Mysterio traded in the song for a new one that just yelled "Booyaka!"at you ad nauseum, and he also remained grounded for his entrance, abandoning what was an incredibly entertaining gimmick. The new theme wasn't a terrible song that P.O.D. delivered to him, but it fundamentally failed on the agenda for fun that his old one had,and it attempted to build a brand on something plainly ridiculous - because most importantly, what exactly does booyaka mean anyway?
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
