WWE: 12 Careers You Won't Believe Stars Did After They Quit Wrestling

7. Nikolai Volkoff: First Soviet National Anthem, Then Dodgeball!

Josip Peruzovi‡- better known to proud Americans in the 80s and 90s as Nikolai Volkoff- left wrestling full-time in 1994, after Ted DiBiase's Million Dollar Corporation fell apart. He still finds time to don the red tights with the hammer and sickle, after he unsuccessfully ran for the Maryland State Delegation in District 7 (Baltimore) in 2006. Described as a "good family man" by several in the wrestling fraternity- including former manager "Classy" Freddie Blassie, who credits Nikolai with helping him reconnect with his estranged daughter of 35 years- Volkoff has taken his love of children and families to the Baltimore County Police Athletic League's kids' program, where he has worked as a help leader since 2010. He supervises the older students in the weight room, teaches the younger students to play chess and billiards, and cheers on basketball games outside. The only clues the children even have that the man assisting them is a former professional wrestler and Hall of Famer are: a black-and-white poster in Volkoff's modest office; and the fact that he is a playable character in the WWE All-Stars video game, a game the Athletic League has in their center.
