WWE: 12 Former TNA & WCW Stars Who Didn't Live Up To Expectations

11. Monty Brown

As a former NFL linebacker Monty Brown's physicality meant he had no struggle living up to the moniker 'The Alpha Male'. Even though he never captured a championship in TNA, he was a big hit with the fans thanks to his intensity inside the ring and cartoonish promos outside of it, and he was frequently in the main event scene as both a face and a heel, challenging for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on several occasions but never quite managing to get the vital win. Billed as from "The Serengetti" whilst Dale Oliver's version of Disturbed's 'Down With The Sickness' played, Brown was a big hit. Naturally given his qualities, Brown was signed by the WWE where he debuted on the ECW brand under the new name 'The Alpha Male' Marcus Cor Von (although spelt Marquis for the first week) and soon became a part of the Mr McMahon approved New Breed stable to feud with the ECW Originals. The two groups clashed at WrestleMania 22 with the Originals coming out on top, but he mysteriously vanished from TV not long afterwards for "family issues" and never returned before being released from his contract later in the year. Final Assessment: A case of great potential frustratingly being lost because of mysterious issues.
