WWE: 12 Life Lessons From Ultimate Warrior's 'One Warrior Nation'

6. €œGet Your Appreciation Priorities Straight€

I had to use a direct quote from Warrior on this one, as I absolutely love it. Gratitude has become a bit of a fad around my community lately, which sounds snide, because gratitude is a good thing, right? Well I€™ve seen lots of genuinely gracious initiatives, as much as I€™ve seen some self-congratulatory blogs from people who are practically patting themselves on the back (like virtual Barry Horowitzes) for being so thankful. Yes, it€™s become fashionable to make your gratitude public. As you can imagine, since you€™ve read this far, Warrior€™s prescription for gratitude is a lot less flowery, and more ass-kicking. He believes in karma (as do I) and says that until you can be truly happy with what you have, you aren€™t deserving of anything else. That€™s in the same vein of taking responsibility for your life, and not laying blame elsewhere for your shortcomings or bad choices. It€™s taking stock of what you have, really reflecting upon it. And while Warrior doesn€™t say this outright, I imagine that a sense of gratitude is a useful weapon against negativity €“ something he decrees must be banned from one€™s mind.
