WWE: 12 Most Powerful Stables In Wrestling History
8. The Fabulous Freebirds
Significant Members: Michael Hayes, Terry Gordy, Buddy Roberts, Jimmy Garvin. Perhaps no group in wrestling was more successful at getting babyface wrestlers over than the Freebirds. Their wars with the Von Erichs in Texas and the stars of the UWF are legendary. The Birds were masters at drawing nuclear heat, and anyone who took them on was instantly a favorite of fans. Michael Hayes was all charisma, the frontman of the faction. Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy was the enforcer and Buddy Roberts the snivelling weasel who could take the pin without damaging the group's credibility. The Freebirds are credited as the innovators of the wrestling/rock 'n roll connection, incorporating their own custom theme music (Badstreet U.S.A.) in their ring entrances. With successful runs in World Class, UWF, Georgia, the AWA and WCW, the Freebirds are one of the best to ever do it. Memorable Moments: The entire Von Erichs feud, Gordy's UWF championship reign. Why They Were Powerful: They could draw heat and work a crowd into a rabid frenzy like no other, always worked with the top faces in any territory they wrestled, involved in one of the greatest feuds of all-time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1uz_wC0aZA
