WWE: 13 Hilariously Bad Gimmick Matches

6. The Punjabi Prison Match

Where to begin with this one? Firstly, the match was "founded" by Punjab native The Great Kahli, which for some is enough of a first warning light, and secondly, the match involves two cages made of bamboo. And to top it off, the guy who founded the match wound up not being able to participate due to "elevated enzymes in his liver." The Punjabi Prison Match was just plain weird and convoluted: it's uncertain if every single rule of the match was stated the first time it was introduced at the 2006 Great American Bash, but the basic idea was to escape from the two cages and make your way to the arena floor. It was like having a Hell in a Cell Match over a Cage Match but with bamboo, and if that sounds very similar to another match type from back in the day, it probably should. The best part of watching the match was listening to the commentary team attempt to make it sound like one of the most vicious match types ever created. It's all for the sake of theatrics of course, but they're not going to impress wrestling fans with cages made of bamboo. It was odd, out of place, and there's a reason why there were only two of these matches in WWE history - in fact, the less said about it, the better.
