3. Chris Kanyon's Boy George
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3ipmwpMKF4 The late Chris Kanyon who started his mainstream wrestling career as the Mortal Kombat-inspired Mortis in WCW unfortunately would go on to get a much worse on screen reinvention in the WWE. After having found some success in WCW in his angles with Diamond Dallas Page, he started off in a similar mid-card position in WWE. After the WCW-ECW angle finished he never really found his place on the roster, and was at one point sidelined because of an allergic reaction to medication following a surgery. Kanyon's comeback was also a come-out of sorts as the WWE bookers decided to have a little 'fun' with the not-yet-publicly-gay Chris Kanyon. In an angle featuring Paul Heyman and The Undertaker, a crane delivered a large crate into the ring as a gift for the Deadman. As an uncertain Undertaker approached the crate a door on the crate opened, and out walked Chris Kanyon dressed as Boy George, singing 'Do you Really Want To Hurt Me.' The symbolism of Kanyon 'coming out' of what was effectively a closet in the middle of the ring was clear. Kanyon expressed in his posthumously-released autobiography that he hadn't liked the angle, and that the WWE didn't expect him to want to do it. He did it anyway, but later wasn't given the opportunity to follow it up with anything meaningful.
