WWE: 13 Most Horribly Offensive Gimmicks Wrestlers Ever Took On

2. Oklahoma

Ed Ferrera was a writer for the WWE, who, along with Vince Russo, was there during the height of the Attitude era. When Russo left for WCW in 1999 he also jumped ship and together they were in charge of booking WCW. When people look back at what caused the death of WCW, their arrival is often seen as the beginning of the end. That isn't to say that everything was bad, but without a doubt one of the biggest lowlights was when Ed Ferrera made his on screen debut as Oklahoma. There have been many parodies over the years in wrestling, such as the Nacho Man and Jason Sensation's excellent Owen Hart impression. These were designed to mock €“ often for storyline purposes €“ but much like the Nacho Man and Scheme Gene, they had a bit of real life bitterness to them. Ed Ferrera's parody of Jim Ross is perhaps the most infamous. JR had suffered strokes and had facial paralysis due to suffering Bell's Palsy and Ferrera made light of this. Also his characterisation and dialogue wasn't entertaining and added nothing to the show. Russo and Ferrera didn't think Oklahoma would improve ratings, it was just their opportunity to attack Jim Ross on a public platform. Stay classy, guys.
