WWE: 14 Greatest Ever Moments When Superstars Got Revenge

14. The Rock Ends His Stone Cold WrestleMania Curse

Whilst not a stereotypical form of revenge, there is no denying that in the mind of the "Hollywood" iteration of The Rock he walked into WrestleMania XIX seeking vengeance. As the two legends faced off for the third time on the 'Grandest Stage of Them All' The Rock entered with one purpose: proving to the world that he could defeat his long-time nemesis Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania. Each WrestleMania match between the two came exactly two years apart, with Austin's previous two wins coming at WrestleMania XV and X-Seven. On both occasions Austin took The Rock's WWE Championship belt with his victories, even enlisting the help of arch-rival Mr McMahon in the latter event. But at Safeco Field the only thing on the line was pride.
Both men had returned in February of 2003, Rock from his Hollywood shoots and Austin from his self-imposed sabbatical. Besides two short "matches" with Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff, WrestleMania XIX was Austin's true return to the ring. He symbolised this by emblazening the letters O.M.R. on his ring jacket, symbolically standing for One More Round as the stage was set for a legendary final clash between two of the Attitude Era's biggest stars. At WrestleMania XIX in Rock-Austin III the two men fought for almost twenty minutes and played a game of tit-for-tat exchanging each others finishers and taunts, with Rock even wearing Austin's entrance vest. But the true moment of vengeance came for The Great One after he kicked out of the Stone Cold Stunner and followed it with a People's Elbow and three Rock Bottoms to finally overcome The Texas Rattlesnake the one place he never had.
