WWE: 15 Memorable Staples Center Moments

11. Feb 10th 2003, Raw - "The Rattlesnake Returns"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0kFZm5iAu8 This early 2004 episode of Raw was a mostly uneventful episode that revolved around the upcoming return of Stone Cold Steve Austin. Eric Bischoff had been told by Vince McMahon to bring back the Rattlesnake, but was running out of time to do so. In order to deflect the blame off of himself, Bischoff took aim at Austin€™s long time friend Jim Ross, telling him that he is fired until he can bring back Stone Cold. Later in the show, Vince McMahon brought JR, Bischoff and his head of staff Chief Morley to the ring. Having failed to follow through on his mission, McMahon lost his patience and fired Bischoff on the spot, then Morley after he lost a match against all 3 Dudley brothers. Later again, in the main event slot, Jim Ross announced to Vince that he had gotten Austin to commit to returning at No Way Out. Keeping to his promise, Vince restored JR and Bischoff to their jobs, but announced that Bischoff would have to face Stone Cold himself as his return match. This all happened during the 2 hour broadcast of Monday night Raw, but the Staples Center live audience that night got an unexpected treat when the live cameras stopped rolling. As Bischoff stood in the ring still pleading his case, the familiar sound of glass smashing filled the arena, and Stone Cold made a surprise off air return to the WWE. Austin made a beeline for Bischoff, but was attacked from behind by Chief Morley. Morley ate a Stunner, and Austin began to celebrate with beers. But we weren€™t done there. Professional party pooper Chris Jericho interrupted the celebration and had a fantastic back and forth with Stone Cold. After some golden interaction between the two stars, Jericho received a Stunner to send the fans home happy. This great extra segment wouldn€™t be seen by most fans until it was included as an extra on the No way Out 2003 DVD release.
