3. The Money In The Bank Ladder Match (WrestleMania 21)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWEt3DkYrHM It's a well documented story. Chris Jericho, seeing a wealth of A Grade talent- himself included- on the Raw roster going to waste as Wrestlemania 21 in Los Angeles drew ever nearer went to the powers that be and pitched the idea for a match that could make use of all of them, whilst introducing a brand new concept that has since become a staple of WWE's calender year and provided some of the most noteworthy moments of the last decade: the Money in the Bank Ladder match. An extension to the regular ladder match (more on that in a moment), Jericho's idea to place 6 supremely talented workers in one match with a ladder or two was destined to be a success the moment it was announced. Initially, on paper, one might say that the idea of a prize during which one superstar can 'cash in' for a World Title Match any time, any place they desire is a little novel, however the moment Edge did exactly that at New Year's Revolution in 2005, it became clear WWE had struck gold. Seen as the modern day equivalent of the King of the Ring tournament, the Money in the Bank Ladder match has since become a stepping stone, on route to a run at the top of WWE's card. Launching the careers of Edge, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, Kane and The Miz to their heights, it was 7 and a half years before a Money in the Bank Ladder Match winner failed in his quest to subsequently win the World Title but by the time John Cena failed in such a quest, the Money in the Bank concept had long been established as a fixture in the WWE calender. Factor in, also, that they tend to produce outstanding matches, the first of which being a prime example and a big "Thank You" to Chris Jericho is truly in order.
