WWE: 15 Most Important Undercard Matches In WrestleMania History

13. The Undertaker vs Kane (WrestleMania XX)

WWE spent a good deal of time preparing video packages and a whole host of bizarre segments leading to that first gong that we all knew was coming. Wrestlemania XX was fortunate enough to have several high profile matches on the bill and whilst this match did go on second from last it didn't receive the promotion that Brock Lesnar and Goldberg did. It was the beginning of Undertaker's final run in WWE, which continues to this date and the first of the really big Streak matches that have become a staple of every Wrestlemania event since that day, despite The Streak not being a focal point of that particular feud. Whilst 'Taker's run as the American Bad Ass was refreshing and a good fit for the change in direction WWE took with their promotion in the year 2000, his true legacy lay with the urn and the Creatures of the Night, meaning his return to the dark side was an inevitable one. It's a testament to the legacy 'Taker has built with the Streak, a testament to the work ethic and dedication of Mark Calaway to his job and a credence to Vince McMahon for creating and promoting the Undertaker character that returned in earnest during this match, at this event. There was also another match that night that has become historic. It only went on 4th on the card (out of 12) but the name value alone made it an instant classic...
