WWE: 15 Reasons The Undertaker Streak Ended At WrestleMania 30

5. WrestleMania 30 Is An Occasion

When the streak concluded it always needed to be done in the right environment. What better way to do it than on the 30th anniversary of WrestleMania in front of 75,000 fans? It's the sense of occasion needed to do something dramatic. By doing it on a decade Mania, Taker has left an element of symbolism and marker in history which might have seemed random on a future Mania. This year's event marked the decade point from the reboot of the deadman character at WrestleMania 20, which also proved the start point for the whole 'streak' narrative. Wrapping it up ten years on has a nice full circle feel about it. Undertaker had no reason to trudge on in further streak matches, his legacy was complete. WWE would also have been keen on doing this on an anniversary year. They tried to do something similar with a historic moment at Mania 20, but were robbed of that due to the Benoit murders. This time the company has got the birthday celebration they wished for, a moment in history which stands WrestleMania out as multi-decade phenomenon.
