10. Royal Rumble
The Good: Royal Rumble 1999 was pretty rotten overall, but it was saved from being a total dud thanks to the superhuman efforts of The Rock and Mankind in their WWF Championship I Quit match. Watching the match with 2015 eyes, it's hard to enjoy it as much due to the number of vicious unprotected chairshots that a handcuffed Foley takes. In a post-Benoit world and knowing the physical state of Foley these days, it really is difficult to watch. Although the other matches weren't the best, the wrestlers themselves were hugely over. The Bad: After the success of the 1998 Survivor Series, Vince decided to give Russo more booking power. The results were incredibly hit-and-miss. The Rumble was dominated by the Austin/Vince feud. Vince winning was supposed to be a shocking moment but it was rendered pointless when Austin main evented 'Mania anyway. The undercard matches were tame. The Big Bossman versus Road Dogg and Sable versus Luna were never going to set the world on fire, but there's really not much entertainment value to be had at all. The Rest: Billy Gunn was supposed to go over Ken Shamrock in their Intercontinental Championship match, but arrived late and hungover after a night of heavy partying and the result was changed. Still, WWE went ahead with his push a few months later.
