WWE: 20 Best PPVs Of All Time

5. Royal Rumble 2000

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PewezpwSQjo Highlights: Triple H vs. Cactus Jack, Royal Rumble match won by The Rock. This was the first wrestling DVD that I ever bought. I'm not sure when WWE first released DVDs for their shows, but this had to be one of the first ones. I remember buying it and watching it a bunch of times because of how awesome of a show it was. I've written throughout this list that 2000 was the best year and this one set the tone. It's another great show that took place in Madison Square Garden. The WWE Title match with Triple H beating Cactus Jack in a Street Fight was the perfect example of how you put over a strong heel champion. It was a Street Fight - the specialty of Cactus Jack - that was won by Triple H. It wasn't the kind of environment that he was used to, but he showed how tough he was and came out victorious after 27 brutal minutes. There was blood, there were thumbtacks, there was a barb wire bat and most importantly a hot crowd throughout. Main eventing the show was the Royal Rumble match, which was very good even though Steve Austin was out injured. The fact that they still had enough star power to make it work showed that they were really building to something special at that point. The finish was a bit controversial with The Rock last eliminating Big Show. It was an excellent Rumble match. Also on the show, the Hardy Boys beat the Dudley Boys in a tag team table match that we hadn't really seen before. Great choice for an opening match. Crowd loved it. Action never stopped. It was the right show at the right time in front of the right crowd. Best way to explain it. The 2000 Royal Rumble was a winner.
