WWE: 20 Changes That MUST Happen On The Road From WrestleMania 30
16. Open Up The Backstage World
There was a time when things happened outside of the WWE ring in a whole different backstage environment. In years past we have witnessed boiler room brawls, parking lot fights and falls count anywhere matches. We were treated to backstage segments ranging from ambush attacks, car explosions and the bizarre time when Hulk Hogan drove a truck into an ambulance containing The Rock! Currently we are left with a planned, organised WWE product where everything is micro managed to follow a predetermined schedule. There is no longer a tangible sense that anything can happen. If the WWE is to avoid stagnation, it should review its history when it comes to things that happened outside of the ring and behind the curtain. Change in the corporate view of what a wrestling franchise should include is a priority that one way or another the WWE must address. Yes a wrestling franchise should have its main focus on the wrestling that takes place within the squared circle, however to deny fans the excitement of events that unfold in the backstage area is narrow minded and ignorant of one of the main ingredients of any successful wrestling promotion...chaos! Imagine how amazing the WWE could be if it reopened the backstage world and with it unlock a whole raft of creative possibilities.
