When The Rock was announced as the host for WrestleMania 27 in 2011 it was a huge deal because it would be the first WrestleMania he would take part in as a performer in 7 years. We didn't know if he was going to wrestle again at this point. It was simply a return. On February 14, 2011 he made his return to one of the loudest and longest sustained ovations you will ever here. The sight of one of the biggest movie stars in the world standing on that stage as the crowd went absolutely crazy was one of the most memorable visuals in recent Raw history. During the speech, Rock showed that he hadn't missed a beat in the promo department. He spoke about coming "home" to WWE and begun the angle with John Cena by talking trash about him too. He also said he was never, ever going away and well, he's not really around anymore, but I don't think he meant it in the literal sense. The fans hung onto every word he said, reacted exactly the way he wanted and gave him the kind of ovation he deserved.
