WWE 2001 PPVs From Worst To Best

8. Backlash

The Good: Match of the night went to the spectacular Hardcore Championship match between Rhyno and Raven. The former ECW stars had arguably their most memorable WWE match against one another here. That Gore through the shopping cart, man... Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle continued rivalry series with a little-seen Iron Man Submission Match. Although not as good as some of their other matches, this was a worthy entry into their series. Although they were essentially rehashing the same match from Judgement Day 2000, Shane and Big Show's bout was at least memorable thanks to Shane's insane elbow drop off the scaffolding. The Bad: The Two-Man Powertrip of Austin & Triple H versus The Brothers of Destruction should have been better, given the talent involved. It probably would have been, too, had they shaved five minutes off the match. Still, at least the crowd were into it. The Dutchess of Quensberry Rules match between Jericho and Regal, where Regal kept changing the rules as he went along, wasn't up to much. The Rest: Jerry Lynn won the Light-Heavyweight Title from Crash Holly in a match taped for Heat. That would represent the high point of his WWE run.
