WWE 2004 PPVs From Worst To Best

9. Taboo Tuesday

The Good: A novel idea from WWE, Taboo Tuesday saw viewers voting for opponents, match stipulations and a host of other gimmicks. Chris Jericho's IC Title defence against Shelton Benjamin was good. Jericho has said many times that they called it completely on-the-fly and that he didn't know Benjamin was going over until the referee informed him just seconds before they locked up. Chris Benoit and Edge (who had to team up because they lost the vote on who would face Triple H later) told a good story in their match with La Resistance (Edge left Benoit alone but Benoit won the titles anyway). In the main event, Ric Flair rolled back the years and had a blinding little cage match with Orton. This might have been the best Flair had looked in WWE up to that point. The Bad: Shawn Michaels went into the event with a torn MCL but still gutted it out and had his World Title match with The Game. It wasn't pretty, but HBK deserves credit for sucking it up and performing as advertised. The women's eye candy matches (battle royal and Diva Search pillow fight) were what they were. Snitsky and Kane's chain match wasn't good, but it was the best Snitsky had looked up to that point. The Rest: Why was Vince McMahon surprised that Eric Bischoff died his hair black? He was grey as far back as 1997. Everyone saw his silver locks on WCW TV. It was hardly a closely-guarded industry secret or anything.
