WWE 2006 PPVs From Worst To Best

3. Judgement Day

The Good: Rey Mysterio finally looked like a proper World Champion after weeks of being jobbed out to the likes of Mark Henry, Finlay and Regal. He and JBL worked a great big man vs. little man match. Although the references to Eddie Guerrero could have been cut, it was a damn fine effort. London and Kendrick won the Tag Titles from MNM. Although a shock at the time, the reasons for the switch would become clear soon after. The action was good, as you'd imagine. Gregory Helms versus Super Crazy was fine and Mark Henry and Kurt Angle's match was about fifty times better than their Royal Rumble clanger. Best of all was the slow burning Chris Benoit versus Finlay match. A modern masterpiece, both men wrestled a slow, deliberate style and the fans were glued from the start until the finish twenty minutes later. Oh, and Booker T became King Booker with a well-received victory over Bobby Lashley. The Bad: The Great Khali squashed The Undertaker and pinned him with one foot on his chest. Yes, that really did happen. Bonkers. The Rest: Regarding the MNM split: Nitro and Melina needed to be moved to Raw since they had alienated most of the Smackdown locker room with their prima donna behaviour. Mercury, meanwhile, needed a trip to rehab to sort some substance abuse problems.
