WrestleMania 27 - The Rock Plants The Seed On John Cena
Unfortunately for The Miz, his role in this story was that of a placeholder. Virtually anyone could have played the part of "Champion who needed to hold the belt without detracting attention away from The Rock and Cena". Though The Miz walked away from WrestleMania 27 with title still in hand, and a concussion for his troubles, his part of the story was already forgotten. It was all about The Rock, whose controversial return to pro wrestling had created a lot of buzz amongst fans and wrestlers alike. Regardless of whether we thought he deserved a spot at the main event table, The Rock was here to RSVP. When he delivered a Rock Bottom to John Cena so that The Miz could retain the title, it set into motion a year-long build to their match at the following year's WrestleMania. It divided fans and shone the mainstream media light on WWE once again. Before "what's best for business" became the catchphrase that it is today, The Rock certainly proved that it didn't matter what we thought, he was indeed best for business.
