4. Samoa Joe

It is a sign of how poorly TNA used Samoa Joe that he only became TNA World Champion on one occasion, and even by this point it was arguably too late. They got things right when he first arrived in the company, sending him on a long winning streak that made the former NXT Champion look like an absolute beast, but Joe soon got bogged down in mindless story after mindless story.

Joe won the title at Lockdown in 2008 by defeating Kurt Angle in a match that would have seen Joe 'retire' if he had failed to win the title. The match was a thing of technical beauty, proof that MMA could be mixed into professional wrestling in an effective manner, going almost 20 minutes before Joe was able to hit the Muscle Buster for the win.

Six months later Joe lost the title to the man who features next on the list, and he never really came believably close to winning it again. To give a clear indicator of just how badly TNA used Joe, he came bottom of the inaugural Bound for Glory Series with a grand total of minus ten points.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
