3. Corporate Protege
Wade Barrett needs an angle and fast. The former Intercontinental Champion is going nowhere fast in the midcard. Some say he should win the Money in the Bank and others say he should be in a feud with someone like Sheamus. However, why not have him in a more corporate role? Barrett is pretty good on the mic and would look great in a suit and tie making life difficult for others. Say on an episode of SmackDown, Mr McMahon approaches Teddy Long after he makes one too many tag team matches (nice inside joke there) and tells him that, frankly, SmackDown feels old and decrepit since he took over the show. What they need is some new blood to get the show back on its feet and Teddy does not fit into the equation so Teddy is wished well in all of his future endeavours. The next week on SD, Mr McMahon introduces the new SD GM Wade Barrett- who will be mentored by Mr McMahon himself. Mr McMahon claims he sees a great corporate future for Barrett and wants to have him on board. While things go well to start with, Barrett begins acting in a heelish way- getting involved in matches and the like. Triple H warns Mr McMahon that power may have gone to Barrett's head but when McMahon confronts Barrett about it he gets beaten up by the Englishman- setting up a feud between Barrett and Triple H.
