4. The Last Temptation of Punk
This needs to be set up after CM Punk has won the World Heavyweight Championship. After this victory, Punk cuts a promo, saying that while he appreciated his time with the WWE title when he had it for those 434 days, he cannot help but feel that the belt he has around his waist now was being neglected by a company that was more interested in seeing John Cena fight John Laurinitis than give great workers like Daniel Bryan real air time. This draws the attention of Stephanie McMahon, who approaches Punk and says to him that she appreciates that Punk is annoyed- after all, he was the longest WWE champion in the last 25 years but still headlined less PPV's during his reign than John Cena. The thing is, John Cena is good for business. His mainstream appeal is massive and, frankly his spot at the top is not going to change unless Punk tempers himself a bit. Stephanie points out that although he is a great wrestler, there have been times that people up the back have wondered if he is a great example of the business. She then walks off to a stunned Punk. On the next week's show something controversial occurs near the start of the show and Punk is asked for his opinion. He begins to build up to what many think will be a pipe bomb before pausing and claiming that he needs to know more before commenting- to the bewilderment of the crowd. Stephanie may then point out to Punk of the massive amount of endorsements that he does- for things that Punk sees as silly. To cut a long story short then, soon CM Punk is behaving a bit too corporate for his own good, and a former opponent of his calls him out on it (Jericho would probably be best at this). Jericho tells Punk that he is in danger of becoming everything he hates and the fans didn't dislike him because he wasn't winning titles- they liked him even more because they knew how much he deserved to get one. From there, it's a question of what you want to do with Punk- do you turn him heel with Stephanie as his manager, or do you keep him face to rage against the McMahons once again?
