4. Dolph Ziggler vs Alberto Del Rio, World Heavyweight Championship: 4/8/2013 East Rutherford, New Jersey
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKqtFqpRLEk One could never imagine a Money in the Bank cash-in being this good. Alberto Del Rio had just gone through a handicap match against Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger where Swagger hobbled Del Rio with his brutal ankle submission called The Patriot Lock. With Del Rio being attended to by medical personnel, a familiar buzz began to circulate in the arena and online. Dolph Ziggler, who held the World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank briefcase since July 2012, finally had the perfect moment to strike a fallen opponent. His previous attempts amounted to elaborate teases that were thwarted by Sheamus and John Cena, but this night was his. IM HERE TO SHOW THE WORLD!!!! blared throughout the Izod Center. The crowd, standing up in unison, erupted like teenage girls laying eyes on The Von Erich brothers. Ziggler immediately began targeting Del Rios ankle with the type of ruthless aggression that 2002 Vince McMahon would be proud of, and landed a fame-asser for what seemed to be an easy win. However Del Rio kicked out. After missing a corner splash, Zigglers momentum swung entirely to Del Rio, who hit Dolph with an enzuigiri straight out of the Owen Hart/Shawn Michaels handbook. The seeds of doubt were planted, and fans were thinking Del Rio would escape. Del Rio then locked in his cross arm breaker. It sent the crowd into a furious state, only to be followed by a surge of euphoria when Ziggler found a way to escape. As Del Rio hobbled around, only one thing was left to do. Ziggler put Del Rio down for the 1-2-3, and a new champion had been crowned. Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio turned what could have been a very run of the mill Money in The Bank cash-in, into a swinging pendulum of emotion, that helped cement a new star. It was the perfect cash-in, in the era of Twitter. A commercial break allowed the word to spread on social media, followed by a dramatic contest that lasted just over 3 minutes. This match began a chain of events that included the eradication of each mans sidekick (Ricardo & AJ Lee), a concussion for Dolph Ziggler that would alter his destiny as champion, and a double turn for both men. Del Rio parlayed this feud into being in the championship picture for the better part of 10 months, while Ziggler has been bizarrely misused since Summerslam.
