WWE: The 5 Men Planned To Be WWE's Biggest Stars After WrestleMania 30 - Report

1. John Cena

It should come as no surprise at all that the WWE plan to still have John Cena as the number one guy this summer. He is imprinted on the conciousness of the wider pop culture world in a way that Bryan is nowhere near being. Like it or not it matters, name recognition helps to sell the WWE brand to external corporate partners and Cena is the guy with the established status to do this. Even within the WWE, Bryan is still some way off selling the amount of merchandise John does. Likewise Cena has a more positive effect on ratings and buys than Bryan has - as illustrated by 2013 PPV main event buy numbers. The crowds and the internet may call louder for Bryan, but where it matters, Cena is still doing the business. It shows again the gulf between insider interests and wider audience interests - internet fans might make the most noise, but the silent majority are still putting their money on John Cena as the marquee star. The fact that WWE management also like John personally (his hard working tenacity has made him the most "WWE Guy" since Undertaker) means he will remain top dog for some time yet. This is a guy who according to Big Show went 70 days without a day off in 2013. When it comes to doing the job, John doesn't just do his work, he lives his work. Daniel Bryan will enjoy a championship reign this year, but just as in 2012 with CM Punk, John Cena is still WWE's bankable main event star.
