WWE: 5 Reasons Batista's Return Has Been A Flop

5. Uneventful First Appearance

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0lRZgjp6TQ During Batista first appearance on Raw in nearly 4 years, his first act was to hug Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. BIG MISTAKE!!! When Batista's music hit, he got a good, if not great reaction from the crowd. People were willing to cheer him. They just needed incentive to do so. If Batista was going to encounter the Authority he needed to confront them on their behaviors over the past few months. Thus, giving the fans a reason to get behind him he doesn't like the current direction of the company. Instead what does Batista do? He hugs Stephanie and shakes Triple H's hand as if their BFF's. The problem here is that Triple H and Stephanie are the two biggest heels in the company. Two egotistically a-holes, that do as they please and are never held accountable for their actions. Why is Batista, the returning hero, hugging them on his first appearance? This is confusing because it suggests that Batista is fine with Triple H and Stephanie abusing their power. It is also doesn't clearly establish if Batista is a heel or face as he is milking the crowd for cheers but friends with the devil himself. After being away for so long WWE's best move would have been to have Batista get physical with someone the crowd hates to get the crowd excited for subsequent appearances. Following his exchange with the Authority Batista spoke for three minutes and didn't say anything noteworthy at all. He was not seen again for the rest of the night. Needless to say, his first appearance left a lot to be desired.
