WWE: 5 Reasons Batista's Return Has Been A Flop

4. Poor Mic Skills

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhLL8ja-7AM Being good on the mic is one of the many attributes necessary to be successful in WWE. This is especially important in today's PG era when you're not allowed the freedom to swear and use vulgar language on the mic. It's because of this that talent is forced to be more creative with their words to convey their message. Batista has never been particularly gifted on the mic. In fact, he is one of the weaker promo men for a modern day main eventer. The first promo of his return was mercifully short. He essentially stated he was back to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. During his first run with the company Batista's mic skills really started to blossom during his final heel run. It was while portraying a heel that Batista started to become much more compelling. He was given material he could relate with and he became much more entertaining. His favorite line since his return has been "deal with it", as if that's supposed to make him appear tough. I'm not entirely sure this wasn't WWE's attempt to establish a catchphrase for his character, which can then get printed on a shirt for sale. Though he has only spoken a handful of times since his return Batista has been stiff and wooden as a cane on the mic. He isn't nearly as comfortable playing a face as he is playing a heel. During his promo with Orton on the 1/27 edition of Raw the crowd went 'mild' for his appearance and proceeded to chant for Daniel Bryan throughout. This seemed to disorient Batista causing him to pause and stumble over his words. If he were a heel he could play the selfish badass who only cares about winning. He can even toy with the notion that has already been established of what the face of WWE should look like.
