WWE: 5 Reasons Batista's Return Has Been A Flop

1. Changing Landscape Of WWE

WWE couldn't have a picked a worse time for what they wanted to accomplish with Batista's return. When Batista left, WWE was first entering its current PG-era. He has even stated that as one of the reasons he initially decided to leave the company. "It's brutal. I can't watch it. I can't connect with it. I no longer know this business. I don't do PG wrestling." With the move to a more family oriented product WWE started to eliminate foul language and the unnecessary blood and gore that plagued the previous eras. No longer can talent move the crowd with crude innuendos or excessive violence. WWE is also in a transition period in regards to creating new stars for the company. From a strictly talent standpoint WWE has the most stacked roster, top to bottom, it has ever had. You have main event players such as Cena, Orton, Bryan and Punk (if he returns), guaranteed future stars in Reigns, Ambrose and Bray Wyatt, and talent in developmental such as Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville. That doesn't even include mainstays such as Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro. Fans have become disillusioned with older wrestlers returning and immediately being thrust into the main event scene. The two most popular wrestlers in the world are small garden gnome known as Daniel Bryan, and tattooed skinny-fat fry cook named CM Punk. Neither of which have the stereotypical size WWE historically prefers. Byran has a catchy catchphrase, works a frantic pace in the ring and seems to be moving 100 mph. Punk is an unhinged character fueled by anger with some of the best mic skills the business has ever seen. Unfortunately, for WWE Batista struggles with the aforementioned. Fans have rejected the idea of Batista in the main event after being force fed the Rock the previous two Wrestlemanias. Through no fault of his own the fans are taking their frustrations out Batista, who is not the man they would like to see headline Wrestlemania. WWE has fumbled Batista's return, but with him being signed for two years there's plenty of time to right the ship.
