WWE: 5 Reasons Batista's Return Has Been A Flop

2. He's Not As Big Of A Star As WWE Thought

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhLL8ja-7AM WWE thought with the resigning of Batista they were getting the second coming of the Rock. The Rock is a legitimate Hollywood star that also happens to be beloved by the WWE Universe. Batista though a big deal, in his own right, certainly isn't the same level actor or beloved superstar that Rock is. Unfortunately, for WWE they overestimated Batista's appeal to the casual fan. Even at his most popular when he was feuding with Triple H, Batista was never what you would consider to be the 'man'. He was never on the same level of Stone Cold, the Rock or even Triple H. His first run as world champion just so happened to occur during the meteoric rise of John Cena, who was being groomed as the future face of the company. Batista isn't even in the same league as Brock Lesnar, a legitimate mainstream star from both his stints in WWE and UFC. Brock is an athletic freak who could theoretically murder someone in the ring if he ever decided to go off script. He's the walking embodiment of the Terminator and not what WWE thinks a tough guy looks like. Brock Lesnar is Goku to Batista's Yamcha-they kind of look similar, but one could murder the other pretty easily.
