WWE: 5 Signs That Bray Wyatt Is The Next Undertaker

3. The Gimmick

The Lord of Darkness and The Eater of Worlds have a lot in common €” their concentration upon dark themes that are constantly referenced throughout promos €” death, destruction and a control and understanding of the supernatural/the devil are most commonly addressed. And when these topics are addressed well, it's a pretty scary prospect for any in-ring competitor to think about. Going back to the location used for the promos Wyatt does, it's weird and always dark, but it is definitely Wyatt's space and his home €” just as the graveyard has become synonymous with The Deadman and the early mental destruction of his opponents. In this instance, we can even address the attire. Think about it €” when Undertaker started out in black and grey make-up and dressed like a goth zombie, it looked somewhat silly for many but it was most definitely part of the gimmick, and it even spawned Halloween dress-up merchandise for WWE. It was The Undertaker, and however strange it might have looked at the start, superstars and fans soon took him very seriously. It's been working the same with Bray now. When Wyatt first came along dressed in simple fedora hat, white pants, a black vest and Hawaiian shirt, many dismissed him as a weirdly-dressed NXT-graduate, but now we see fedoras selling in the WWE store, and in the ring, when we watch Bray Wyatt, we certainly don't think about how he's dressed €” we're just wondering what he's going to do next, and how it's going to be possible for an enemy to beat him, just like we did with Undertaker. Then, there's the aforementioned minions. The maniacal Wyatt Family in Luke Harper and Eric Rowan. Undertaker had minions too, in The Ministry of Darkness. Minions have been essential to both rises. Having the cult like following that Wyatt does, will only help his career and cement his gimmick as a scary leader that is hell-bent on taking over, and hurling darkness over the WWE. It was intimidating (and interesting) when Taker did it in the 90s, and it's an equally interesting (and frightening) prospect for Bray Wyatt and the Family in 2014.
