WWE: 5 Ways To Counter Anti-Punk Chants At Raw In Chicago (If He Doesn't Come Back)
4. Have Vince Address The Crowd Pre-Show Unaired
Back in ECW, Paul Heyman would often go in front of the crowd before a show and address the crowd. This wasn't to set up angles or storylines but to be real for a moment. Yes he would be a hypeman for the show to whip the crowd into a frenzy, but he also addressed rumors and speculation about wrestlers or the company itself. Heyman developed a rapport with the ECW crowd for doing this and in turn, gained more loyalty. You couldn't do this with a WWF crowd in the 90's as many of the fans weren't as savvy as they are now. For WWE and what they face Monday in Chicago, it's time for them to take a page out of the Paul Heyman playbook and have Vince go out in front of the crowd. No music, no strut, no cameras, no nothing. It has to be Vince. No ring announcers, no Michael Cole, no Triple H, no one else. Vince has the respect in the eyes of the fans for building WWE into what it is today. He should acknowledge that CM Punk isn't there and won't be there. He understands the fans frustrations as tickets for the show went on sale before Punk left and if they want a refund, they are entitled to it. Then he could give them a Vince McMahon pep talk. Get them hyped for the show, mention crowd-favorites like Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, Roman Reigns and more. Not belittle them like Steve Smalls did for TNA when Hogan arrived. In a subtle way, Vince would be attempting to get the crowd to cooperate with WWE and at least salvage some segments.
