WWE: 5 Ways To Get Alexander Rusev Over In 2014

2. A Lengthy Title Run

With the World Heavyweight Championship and WWE Championship finally unified, this means the Intercontinental Title should return shortly to its old level of prestige and hierarchy as the "Almost As Important" championship (give it time!) In the spirit of re-establishing this championships importance, then, its too soon to place it on Alexander Rusev, as it would do the championship no favours, and while its lacking importance in the eyes of the audience, it wouldn't do him any favours either. Which logically leaves the United States Championship as the next one down the ladder. This makes much more sense, as that belt could do with a little re-establishing itself. It currently sits around the waist of Dean Ambrose, and I honestly cant remember the last time it was defended, nor can I be bothered looking it up (it was the 10th of February, and before that it was in October. Yes, I caved!) Rusev can either beat Ambrose directly for the championship, or hopefully in a storyline twist, Ambrose will be stripped of the title for not defending it and Rusev can win it in a tournament or championship scramble. Once he has it, he can then return to a version of the Rusev Invitational, with Lana berating the American audience for squandering a championship and saying it takes a proud Bulgarian to make the title worthy again. This means the U.S. Title is constantly defended, while leaving Rusev to go on another streak. This in turn makes the title a bit more worthwhile AND adds audience interest, as patriotic Americans will be cheering every new challenger, willing them to take back their belt from the foreigner for the Good Ol' U.S.A.!
