WWE: 5 WCW Match Types That Should Return

3. San Francisco 49ers Gold Rush

Let's get back to putting things on poles for a minute. While most pole matches are just watered downed ladder matches the San Francisco 49ers Gold Rush match had some real potential. The concept may be a little familiar to modern wrestling fans as TNA all but ripped it off with their Feast or Fired match. The original concept had two wrestlers competing for the WCW World Heavyweight title on an episode of Monday Nitro. Booker T and Jeff Jarret had the honor of being the only two men in history to face off under these stipulations. Each corner of the ring spouted a pole, each pole held a wooden box, inside one of the boxes was the WCW WHC (World Heavyweight Championship) What was in the other three boxes you ask? Well in typical unfunny WCW fashion each of the other boxes held a gag. A bottle of Viagra, a blow-up doll and of course a photo of "The Bad Guy" himself, Mr. Scott Hall. Now I get WWE wouldn't have such tasteless and adult themed gags in their boxes. Probably wouldn't even have the title in one of them but that doesn't mean this match couldn't make a return. With a quick name change WWE could have their own version of Feast or Fired. One of the boxes could have a number one contender shot in it, or a spot to compete in the Money in the Bank ladder match. The other boxes could still hold gags, all be it more family friendly gags, a John Cena plush doll perhaps?
