WWE: 6 Non-Attitude Era Events That Cost Linda McMahon The Election

1. Vince McMahon Beats Up His Own Daughter... In Front Of Linda

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kY7cQhJKZUM Maybe the last thing an election campaign wants is the candidate watching her husband beat up her only daughter. Some context first. In the months leading up to No Mercy 2003, tension was rising between Vince and Stephanie. After Steph had "accidentally" rehired Hulk Hogan as Mr. America, Vince became annoyed at Steph after hiring the man he had promised never to show up on television never again. The animosity between the two grew over time, with Vince and Steph coming to disagreements over such things as Zach Gowen and Mr America. Eventually, Vince made an ultimatum to Stephanie: step down as Smackdown General Manager. Stephanie proposed a counter solution, a I Quit Match at that No Mercy, winner is fired from the company. So the match would come to be, with Linda in Stephanie in her corner. In Vince's corner was Sable, whom had 4 years previously sued Vince, citing allegations of sexual harassment and unsafe working conditions. The match for a long time consisted of Vince bullying Stephanie, using his superior and suspiciously-gained strength over Stephanie. Throughout the match, Linda made attempts to help Stephanie, but was constantly prevented by Vince. In the end, Mr. McMahon would wins when Linda could no longer bare seeing her daughter abused and threw in the towel. After, a delirious Vince, happy to celebrate his success in defeating his own daughter, pushed Linda aside and left with the 2 time Playboy cover girl. Empowering. And you wonder why the female vote in Connecticut wasn't strong with McMahon...
