3. The WWE Title Was Vacant Meaning the Biggest Prize Ever
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMZQV02ABA4 The 1992 Royal Rumble match is the only one where the WWE Championship (or WWF World Championship at the time) was vacant. In the years that followed, the stipulation was that the winner of the Royal Rumble match earned a shot at the WWE Champion or one of the two titles when they had two World Titles. Could WWE do the vacant title idea again at the Rumble? They certainly could. However, it hasn't happened in 22 years and it may never happen. It's better for the sake of history that this one stands alone because it's what makes it so special. You can say it's only been done once before and that means something. Going back to the star power point, having so many big names in one match where one of them could leave as the champion made it a really big deal. There were so many huge names in one match that they could all win the title and be a believable champion. Flair was the one that was chosen, but Hogan, Savage, Undertaker, Piper and Sid all could have been the guy too. Somebody was Michaels was too early in his singles career to be there, but he had a good showing as well. The fact that the winner got to become "the man" (woo!) made it that much more special.
