2. Inspiring A Generation Of Women
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alX4vwZNhH8 When Lita announced she was retiring in a hate-filled semi-shoot promo directed toward the fans in 2006, she made mention that despite everything in her career she managed to inspire a generation of women. At the time, it could have been discounted as a mere tactic to draw heat from the crowd. However, it's not a false statement! Whenever women in wrestling talk about who they were inspired by, Lita is one of the more popular names that is mentioned. As a gay man in Professional Wrestling, I can also attest that Lita inspired a plethora of LGBT performers as well (including transwoman wrestler Marriah Moreno and Texas-based gay wrestler Zane Coxx). One woman that was inspired by Lita has taken WWE by storm as the new standard to which the Divas are being measured. That young lady is none other than the child that is shown bringing everyone to tears in the above video: the longest-reigning Divas Champion, AJ Lee. Although, real talk, it's kind of creepy that she's a huge Lita fan and is now dating Lita's latest ex, CM Punk. Just saying. Like any real legend, Lita left a lasting impression on fans everywhere and still has people talking about her to this day. This has caused other young women to follow their hearts and fight for their dreams in the world of Professional Wrestling.
